Furniture Repair Bank

ABOUT THE TEAM: The Furniture Repair Bank collects worn and damaged furniture from partners and public donations to repair, refurbish, or redesign to like-new condition. Revived furniture is then provided to refugees and immigrants in need or offered for rent/sale to help fund operations. Additionally, it has tested a workforce development component providing furniture repair skills to refugees and immigrants.

ABOUT THE PROJECT: The Furniture Repair Bank is transitioning from pilot stage under Zero Waste Washington to a standalone non-profit organization and is seeking to refine its business and operational plans, solidify its revenue streams, and identify funding pathways. This project will divert furniture from landfills, avoid carbon emissions, utilize safer alternatives to toxic materials in furniture items, in addition to not having the effects of new furniture production such as deforestation and carbon emissions.
