Electra Network

ABOUT THE TEAM: Electra redefines solar panel lifecycle management by blending operations, regenerative economics, digital platforms, and sustainability. Currently,  90% of end-of-life solar panels end up in landfills, partially due to the high recycling costs driven by collection, administrative, and logistical complexities. Electra Network is working to steward the logistics and connect installers, panel owners, collectors, haulers, reuse project owners, and recyclers of retired solar panels—streamlining and encouraging sustainable end-of-life practices.

ABOUT THE PROJECT: Electra is seeking to merge product registry with product stewardship to enable better lifecycle management of solar panels. This online platform will track and coordinate end-of-life collection and logistics to ensure panels are efficiently reused or recycled. Installers will register solar panels on behalf of owners, securing a unique QR code for each, while the online platform orchestrates collection, sorting, and logistics for end-of-life panels. During NextCycle Washington, the team will refine the online platform, identify funding pathways, and galvanize partnerships across the industry. This project will help optimize the recovery of raw materials that can be reincorporated into the supply chain and divert materials from landfills.
